No act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted.- Aesop

At Suffolk County United Veterans we always welcome donations to aid us in our mission. Below you will find a list of suggestions which will help you decide how you can help.

CLOTHING: Due to the fact that many of our veterans come to us with literally the shirt on their back we are in constant need of clothing. Please use the following guidelines when making a clothing donation:

1) The clothing should be new or gently used in clean condition (under garments must be new).

2) At the present time SCUV is only able to serve male veterans, to this end we can only accept men's clothing.

3) Seasonal clothing is most appreciated: winter coats, hats, gloves, scarves, summer clothing, etc.

4) Since some of our men will be going on interviews when they have progressed in the program gently used suits, ties and dress shirts are also appreciated.

5) Any clothing donated to Suffolk County United Veterans which will not be used will be re-donated to other organizations which serve the homeless.

Suggestions for clothing donations of new clothing: Sweatpants and sweatshirts, underwear, t-shirts, jeans, white athletic socks, sneakers.

FOOD: Food donations are always welcome. If you or you organization would like to cook a special meal for the men in the shelter or if you would just like to make a donation of food please call the shelter office (631-924- 1601), prior to making the donation so that proper arrangements can be made.

SCUV also runs a food pantry open to all needy veterans and their families. We also participate in the Hungry Hero Program run in conjunction with L.I. Cares and the United Way. This program makes food available for the families of military personnel who are finding it difficult to make ends while thier loved one is away on their tour of duty. If you would like to donate to the food pantry please visit the Food Pantry page by clicking on the Our Programs option on the menu to the left. There you will find a page dedicated to our food pantry and the kinds of foods needed to fill the shelves for those in need.

FINANCIAL SUPPORT: In this day and age where budget cuts have become a way of life Suffolk County United Veterans like all not for profit organizations is feeling the pinch. As the need rises with the return of our troops from over seas the services we provide are in demand more than ever. Your financial support can make the difference in helping our veterans have the life they deserve.

Suffolk County United Veterans is registered with the Better Business Bureau's NY State Charities Report and is also listed with the NY State Chairities Bureau and the State Attorney Generals Office.
